Shirley Hare

Shirley Hare, age 75, from Madison, South Dakota died on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Madison. Visitation with a time of Prayer will begin at 6:00pm on Thursday, February 27th 2014 at Randall Funeral Home in Madison. Private family burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetary in Wentworth, South Dakota.

Shirley Ann Shaver was born March 2, 1938 at Madison, SD. The daughter of Floyd C. "Shorty" and Imogene (Sterling) Shaver, she grew up on the family farm near Franklin, SD where she attended school and graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. Shirley was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Hare on June 4, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Madison. She farmed with her husband Bob and raised their family on the Hare homestead on the north shore of Lake Madison. In addition to farming, she worked many hours at the family's other business venture renting property to many people over the years on their lake shore property. She also worked at Chaffins, the State Cafe, Burg's Bootery, Madison Livestock Auction Company, and for Doctor's S.J. Christiansen and Doug Caron at Dakota Chiropractic.

Above all else, Shirley was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, daughter and sister. In other words her family was her life. Her special place was on the farm on Lake Madison. Over the years Bob and Shirley grew close to the many friends her children brought home and to the seasonal flurry on tenants at the lake. Shirley spent the last several years in The Inn On Westport, Sioux Falls, and most recently at Golden Living Center in Madison due to dementia. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Robert "Bob" Hare, Wentworth; children: Renee Grayson, Sioux Falls; Rod Hare, Dave (Sara) Hare, Eric (Pam) Hare all of Wentworth; grandchildren: Bob (Becky) Bessman, Becky Bessman, Katie Hare, Kelsey Hare, Tyler Hare, Laura Hare, Ashley Hare and Blaine Hare, and special nephews, Rick (Carol) Shaver, Randy (Kris) Shaver and Dan Shaver. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd C. "Bud" and Sharon (Rentz) Shaver. BLESSED BE HER MEMORY>
